Split-Night Sleep Study
Save on time — diagnostics and therapeutics in a single night.
what is split-night sleep study?
A split-night sleep study is a streamlined overnight test that combines both diagnostic and therapeutic evaluation in a single session. It’s typically recommended when obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is strongly suspected based on symptoms or screening results. The first half of the night is dedicated to diagnosing sleep apnea by monitoring brain activity, breathing, oxygen levels, heart rate, and body movements. If significant apnea events are detected early, the second half of the night transitions into a therapeutic phase, where CPAP therapy is introduced to assess its effectiveness in real time.
How it works
- First Half: Standard polysomnography is performed to confirm the presence and severity of sleep apnea.
- Second Half: If criteria are met, CPAP therapy begins, and technicians adjust pressure settings to reduce apneas and improve sleep quality.

Purpose and Advantages
- Offers both diagnosis and treatment initiation in one night, reducing the need for multiple appointments.
- Helps determine the appropriate CPAP pressure settings for long-term therapy.
- Speeds up the path to symptom relief and improved sleep health.
